The idea of the project is based on the concept of renewal and the
ability of renewal, hence 'renewability', which is increasingly used
in connection with our changing environments such as nature, global
warming, and urban renewal. We believes that artists have a
responsibility to bear witness to our changing environment and in a
potential of art practice as a catalyst for social change. A focus
will be placed on renewability on ecology, urban and rural
regeneration, and community development at London Olympic Development
Site in East End London. Furthermore we believe that the Renewability
project will achieve high quality work through the Haiku-Hike, an
unusual collaboration of artists, poets, architects, and academics and
local community. The Haiku Hike and the subsequent display of
photography and poems are to be exhibited in the exhibition. The
project will be an event for an exploration of different artistic
approaches to the present pressing issue of nature and culture and
will attract audiences from diverse cultural and social backgrounds to
reflect equally on diverse interests in art and environments.
